Fabric Porn: Sal Beressi Field Trip

I took an unexpected trip to Sal Beressi Fabrics today.  This morning, my husband blew up at me over something stupid and trivial.  I don’t appreciate being used as an emotional punching bag, so I told him “you’re on your own today” and stuck him with the kid to punish him.

Pretty fabrics always put me in a good mood, so I decided to peace out at Sal Beressi Fabrics in San Francisco.  They specialize in upholstery and home decor fabrics, and they offer an AMAZING assortment for all your home decor needs.  If they don’t have what you are looking for, they have tons of fabric books for special orders.  Here’s a random sampling of my favorites fabrics.

Sal Beressi Fabric - Photo real fabric from France

This is a photo real print from France.  I chatted with one of the sweet sales ladies about what we would make with it.  She’s making pillows for a friend.  I would make a crazy trench coat with hot pink lining for spring.

Sal Beressi Fabric - Blue Coral fabric

This would be perfect in my imaginary beach house.

Sal Beressi Fabrics - Cherry Blossom Velvet

Sal Beressi Fabrics - Chinoiserie

Sal Beressi Fabrics - Modern kid print

How fun would this be in a kid’s room?

Sal Beressi Fabrics - Modern Geometric Embroidery

I’m seriously thinking of reupholstering some cat-damaged dining chairs with this fabric.  The red pattern is embroidered.  The $50/yard price tag is holding me back.

Sal Beressi Fabrics - indigo

Sal Beressi Fabrics - turquoise and tan

Sal Beressi Fabrics - animal print

Sal Beressi Fabrics - vintage airline fabric

I was delightfully surprised to see they had vintage fabric.  These fabrics were used to upholster seats for commercial airplanes like Pan Am.

Sal Beressi Fabrics - vintage 1940's fabric

This fabric is from the 1940’s.

Sal Beressi Fabrics - vintage fabric

Not sure which decade this is from.  Maybe 80’s?

Sal Beressi Fabrics - faux book fabric

Yes, that is really fabric.

Sal Beressi Fabrics - American flag

Sal Beressi Fabrics - multi color abstract

I came this close to buying a couple yards of this one, but the $100/yard price tag made me hesitate.  I know I will be obsessing over this one for a while.  You can learn more about Sal Beressi on their website http://sanfranciscofabrics.com/

I eventually made my way home and patched things up with my husband.  We brought up our under-the-radar issues that were gnawing at us and resolved them.  In a f’ed up kind of way, this fight turned out to be an effective means of communication, though I don’t recommend it for everyone.  Who knows, I may come out of this with a new garment or reupholstered dining chairs from this drama, so it’s not a total loss.

Glad you worked things out. The fabrics you showed made me drool. I thrifted a dress for my daughter in a very similar fabric to the last one you showed. Wish the dress fit me! Cheers, Michele
