Best Thrift Store Score Ever – Vintage Embroidered Coat

My best thrift store score ever. Vintage silk embroidered coat for $7.50.

Can you believe I scored this amazing coat for $7.50 at the thrift store?  I should have saved the price tag just to prove I’m not lying.  I found it crammed in an overloaded rack of dresses.  The bright blue sleeve was peeking out, like it was beckoning me to come over.  I couldn’t resist.

I think the jacket is machine embroidered because the stitching is too perfect, but I don’t care.  I love flowers and I love silk, so it’s perfect for me.  This jacket has a great mix of beautiful jewel tone colors.  The embroidery thread is variegated, adding depth and dimension to the flowers.

For some people, this brightly patterned jacket may not be suitable for everyday wear, but not me.  I’ve worn it to work and always get compliments.  It certainly adds a splash of color in the drab, gray meeting rooms.

Just for kicks, I searched ebay and Etsy for similar jackets and found prices ranging from $50 to $250.  Sorry people, it’s not for sale.  This is thrift store fate.  It was meant to be mine.

    Hi

What a fantastic find!!!! I love the part when you said the sleeve was peeking out and was calling your name. I,too, had a similar experience. A houndstooth (name brand) skirt was also sticking out of its “area” (I think it was in the sweatpants aisle) so I scooped it up. It was too small but I added some pleather strips (about 2″)to the sides like a tuxedo effect and it looks great.
